Who is the pastor of our church? What can you expect to happen at a Sunday or Wednesday service or in Sunday School?
Our Pastor
The Pastor of all Christian Science churches is the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy.
What to expect at Sunday services
Each service begins with music selected for the day's Lesson-Sermon and is performed by an organist and soloist. Hymns are sung by the congregation. Two lay readers, elected for three-year terms, conduct the service with a Scriptural selection from the Bible, prayer, and the reading of the week's Bible Lesson-Sermon from the Bible and Science and Health. This is true of all Sunday Services in Christian Science churches around the world.
What to expect at Wednesday services
The First Reader prepares readings from the Bible and Science & Health on a topic of current interest. This is followed by inviting the congregation to share testimonies of healing and how they are practicing Christian Science in their daily lives. Hymns are also sung during this service.
What to expect at Sunday School
Children and teens up to age 20 are taught the Ten Commandments, the Lord's Prayer, with its spiritual interpretation in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, and the Beatitudes. They also discuss the week's Bible Lesson and learn through questions and answers. The teachers are experienced Christian Scientists who love kids!
Nursery
Our church nursery provides loving child care for babies, toddlers and the youngest children during all services.
